The idea of Carnival of Carols came to my mind in 1999 as we stood on the threshold of the New Millennium. It has evolved around children and children only - the children of today and the roles they'll play tomorrow. And so, it was born in the very first year of the 21st Century...with the Hope that it will be held every Christmas as long as there are children in our lives!
Somehow I've always believed that children are not just the foundations but also the pillars of a progressive community. They hold the reins of the future of our existence not just in Pakistan but everywhere. Their minds work like super computers and can work wonders!
As children ourselves, we've had the good fortune of a decent upbringing at home, the privilege of going to good church schools, growing strong in our faith & acquiring leadership qualities whilst doing social work and attending Sunday school in our parishes, and above all, becoming good human beings.
Therefore, the idea & purpose of Carnival of Carols is a simple recognition of this fact that children make our world a better place and we must put them on 'centre stage' as early as possible. So let's give it to them, 'cause 'tis the time to be merry!
A big THANK YOU to all people who come to St. Lawrence's every year in large numbers to see and hear the children sing at the Carnival of Carols. To the kids themselves who take so much pride in standing together as one Big Family of God's Children; the parish Fathers at St. Lawrence's and to the ever-willing group of Volunteers who make this possible. And lastly, to YOU for having visited the website.
As all good things must come to end…so
will the Carnival of Carols as the 10th Edition (Christmas 2009) will be the last of the series.
As a special attraction, we have invited all children (who
participated as kids during these past 10 years, and are
adults now!) in the age group of 15 – 24 years to join in
the ‘Grand Finale’ on December 19, 2009. Please
register your names at
Carnival.Carols@gmail.com
and inform your friends too!
May God Bless You All…!
Menin Rodrigues.
